Throughout the last couple of weeks I have been using Google's tools much more. I use Google calender a lot at my job, I now exclusively use Google e-mail, and I am now starting to use Google Docs. Today in class we watched a shot video explaining how Google Docs are much more efficient than sending work through e-mail attachments. I thought it was amazing how much better the Google way of doing things is. It really does save a lot of time and effort, and best of all, it is free. I have always been told if something is too good to be true, it is, so I'm watching you Google! I am waiting for the catch, the $19.99 a year subscription, but from what I've been told, it's not coming. I hope that all these Google tools will be free for the public to use for a long time.
Another useful tool we learned about today in class was doodle.com. It can be tough for a group of people to work around their busy schedules, and doodle.com offers an easy to read interface that allows people to collaborate together. I will make sure to use this tool the next time I am working on a group project.
I have never heard about doodle.com, but I'm already a fan of the site. My schedule is always crazy and it's hard to plan things with others. I think this will be especially helpful in group projects and even in personal events, like if I want to get together with friends and all of our schedules are a mess.
ReplyDeletegoogle's power point isn't too good. not many design themes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so used to using the tools for free, it would be frustrating to begin having to pay for them. Then again, since I'm hooked, I'd probably cough up the cash...
ReplyDeleteI agree with Bill that google presentations has a weakness when it comes to designs. It is underpowered compared to PowerPoint. One way to get around this is to work on the content collaboratively using google and then to have one group member download the presentation as a PowerPoint file, at which point better designs and animations can be added to the final product.
